Web Design Tools for Nascent Website Designers

February 5, 2010

Topping the list of the leading web designing tools today are the Adobe’s ‘Dreamweaver’ website design software package and the Adobe’s ‘Photoshop’. Adobe Photoshop is a graphics web design tool used to format and edit digital photographs. Adobe’s Flash is another design tool used to handle extremely dynamic graphics and is mostly used by professional web designers. However, for starters, you will be good to go with Dreamweaver and Photoshop and are arguably the best web designing tools as yet.

Dreamweaver is a professional HMTL software editor for designing, developing, and coding websites, web pages, and other web applications. While there are different versions of the same available in the market today, they perform the same function effectively. Typically, you will be presented with two design environments to work with, the design view and the code view. There will also be what is known as a ‘split’ view that will allow you see both the design view and code view concurrently.

As for the design view, it will allow you to very rapidly create pages without having to write the associated code found behind the design, as the software does that for you. You can simply drag in and put the different page elements from an adjacent panel and restructure the development work flow by editing or creating images in third party graphics applications like the Adobe’s Flash or Photoshop programs.

While in theory you can be able to design a site completely on the design screen, you will discover that in practice, you will use both the code and design functions to create designs more effectively. In other words, you will draw the basic design using the visual editing features and then you can take on your coding view to fine tune the already made design and give the design the final details and touches.

Photoshop on the other hand is available in various forms and versions, but they all perform the same functions effectively. This tool allows you to manage and configure digital static images or generated images that you can create in the program. The main benefit of Photoshop is that it is quite easy to use and has been made with site integration in mind. It allows you to create and save your files on the web, to reduce or increase photo resolutions as per your liking without compromising on the image quality.

Needless to mention, in order to reap the benefits and make use of any of the aforementioned programs, any nascent web designer should consider taking a course in designing and web creation to at least have a rough idea of what it entails. The course that you undertake should in the least, include the two main industry standard software packages and at least a basic course on how to use Adobe’s Flash Program.

The internet luckily has so many free courses and lots of resources to enlighten you on almost any topic and the moment you grasp the basic principles of web designing and using these software, plus some bit of practical experience, you will be good to go out and hone your website design skills.
